How to Make Your Kitchen Fit for a Master Chef

Some people really love to cook though unfortunately don’t really have the type of kitchen that is conducive to letting loose. The kitchen is one of the most important parts of the house, so if you love to cook maybe it’s time to do up your kitchen so that you can start to fully get into your passion for cooking. The following improvements to your kitchen will have you ready to cook like a Master Chef.

Appliances

Obviously the more appliances you have the more options you will have for your cooking, cleaning and storing, though you can do a lot by just having your main appliances be good ones. Having a decent oven, stove top, fridge, food processor and dishwasher is pretty much all you need, and while it doesn’t really matter what brands you go with, Westinghouse fridges and Bosch dishwashers are pretty hard to go past.

Knives

You can make do with anything if you have to, though it’s hard to feel confident in the kitchen without some decent knives. If you cook regularly they are going to get a massive amount of us, so invest in a good set and you’ll be amazed by the difference it makes. Having good sharp knives will actually lessen the chance of you cutting yourself as the blades are more reliable and you won’t be struggling to cut up your fruits and veggies.

Boards

Get yourself at least two large chopping boards, as there is nothing worse than being short on space to do your food preparation. There are a lot of different types of boards out there though the most important thing is to get something that is easy to clean. You should keep your meat chopping board separate from the others, as you can get quite sick if your non-meat products get contaminated.

Space

This is a hard element to just add, though if there is any way to increase the amount of space that you have in the kitchen, do it! You need room to spread out and create, and it’s also great having a little extra elbow room is your decide to cook a meal with someone else. Move out anything that doesn’t absolutely need to be in there and try rearranging things, it is amazing what a different set up can do to the feeling of space in a room.

Spices

Any decent chef has a great spice rack, so if you plan on branching out with your cooking you should make a point of adding to your spice collection. Lots of recipes will call for fresh herbs, though having a good spice rack will be extremely useful at adding flavour to almost every meal. If you want to be a Master Chef, you are going to need to know your spices.

Lighting

You have to able to see if you hope to be doing anything worthwhile in there, so add as much light as possible. Natural lighting is always going to be the best though if you need to just add some higher-powered bulbs or even an extra lamp or light fixture in the kitchen.
